Chef Works Clothing Size Guide

The Chef Works range of clothing has unique fits that suit a variety of job roles and venues, from slim fit chef’s trousers to loose fitting jackets. Choosing the right fit will help you perform at your best and work in total comfort through any service.

Sizing

Getting the perfect fit is simple with Chef Works – there are just three simple steps to ensure you can wear your dream jacket, trousers or shirt in absolute comfort.

  1. Choose your fit: jackets and trousers are available in a range of fits, from slim and modern to relaxed and classic fits, each offering a different style and look.
  2. What are your measurements? The chef works garments measurements are for your actual chest or waist size. Grab a tape measure, get your size and match with the size guides to find your ideal fit.
  3. You’re ready to pick your perfect chef coat or trousers!

Measurement Guidelines

  • Chest: take your chest measurement from the fullest part of your chest or bust with your arms down, relaxed, by your side.
  • Waist: measure around your natural waistline, above your hips (in line with your naval). Chef Works trousers sit on your natural waist, not your hips, so ensure you measure this correctly.
  • Inseam: to get an accurate inseam measurement, measure from the base of your crotch to the bottom of your heel.

TIP: If you have an existing pair of trousers that fit you well, you can measure along the inseam of them to get your size.

Aprons

Chef Works aprons come in a variety of styles, each best suited to a venue or role. Getting the right apron can help you work more efficiently, keep your uniform cleaner for longer and give you a style to match.

Bib Aprons - Bib aprons cover the full length of your torso and can go as far down as your ankles. They are placed over your head and secured on the collar of your shirt or jacket (many Chef Works jackets and shirts have snap tabs to stop the aprons from moving around) and secured around the waist with ties. These aprons are available with pockets and without and some have adjustable necks for the perfect fit.

Waist Aprons - Unlike bib aprons, waist aprons are secured by waist straps only, covering you from your waist down to the middle of your thigh, but most cover to just below the hips. These aprons are designed to help you work quicker and more efficiently, rather than protecting your uniform from spills and stains.

Short Bistro Aprons - These aprons are designed for front of house use, featuring a short design that covers from your waist to just above your knees (some designs can be shorter). Bistro aprons offer practical storage for notepads and pens whilst keeping your legs unrestricted for comfort and freedom of movement.

Bistro Aprons - Bistro aprons cover more of your legs than short bistro aprons, covering from your waist to just below your knees. These styles are best suited to front of house food service; protecting your uniform whilst still allowing you to move and work freely.

TIP: Some aprons are reversible, allowing you to keep a professional appearance at all times, whilst some have extra long waist ties that allow you to wrap them around your body and tie it up at the front. Choosing the right apron for your role can help you work more comfortably and efficiently!

Buying Guide: Our guide to getting the right apron for the job is perfect for helping you decide on the ideal apron, whatever your role.
